an average of five kingdom halls being constructed daily, almost 8 million brothers and sisters, dissemination of bible literature in 595 languages, 111,795 congregations worldwide, distribution of 179 million bibles available in 116 languages, 239 countries where jehovah's witnesses have a presence, etc.. need i go on?.

on the other hand........... crisis of conscience, freeminds, the awaa, jw.net, ummmmmm........hmmm........idk six screens or something?

Here's how I would define Christian success.

Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' It's not about how many members you have. It's not about how many Kingdom Halls you build. It's about the WORKS OF MERCY helping the people of 'the world' Witnesses pride themselves in shunning.

When was the last time you recall Witnesses gathered to volunteer at a soup kitchen or provide aid after a natural disaster? I guarantee you the next time will be the first time. Yet you boast about the number of converts while people, some of them even your own, go hungry.

Please reread those verses and think about the real fruits of being 'no part of this world'.

Can This Site Be Even Better?

i believe this place has the ability to help countless jws get out of the religion.

this site also helps people understand the most current events in watchtower world, even before most in a congregation get to hear about it!.

at jwn, we have some very sharp posters who have abilities to make a point easily understood.. many have us have been out of the watchtower for years.

Some suggestions. Some are even serious.

- Disagreement is vital but the hits should be clean. Too many people are getting alienated by drama and personal attacks.

- A toaster oven for every 1,000 posts.

- 'Thumbs up' and 'thumbs down' for the less verbose of us.

- Free boobs in email. Okay, so I feel sexually deprived because of my JW childhood. Sue me.

- A knighthood for Outlaw.

- Instead of continually posting links to help sources, maybe an in-forum self-help guide for lurkers and newbies, a folder just called "The Red Pill"?

About my Coming Out...

since my coming out publicly, i have received a lot of kind words.. i wanted to thank all of you from the depth of my heart.. .

on the other hand, i need to make two things clear:.

i'm often encouraged to use my position to create cartoons or stories for nickelodeon, etc.... i do not have that kind of fire-power.

Please don't let the factionalism get you down. Frankly I don't get why people get so butthurt about it. We're all escaping a sadistic, totalitarian country to different lands. One happens to be JWN, one happens to be AAWA, and there are others. It's not important which country we flee to - what's important is that we get ourselves and our loved ones to safety.

You, Cedars, Simon and others are doing amazing work and I'm grateful to all of you.

Marvin, with all due respect, you have thrown in the towel on this one. It's a welcome effort to take the Organization to task for their false teachings on blood, but if that's your mission, you have to follow through with scholarly method. You don't get a free pass because you don't want to do the detail work. In fairness to you, this problem is swimming in variables that even a doctoral dissertation might not unravel and I wouldn't be too keen either in taking this on.

But I don't know that we need to. One needless death stemming from the blood doctrine is certainly reason enough to condemn the GB and lay serious question to their claim of providing inspired teaching to the JW community. The GB are serial murderers and a few case studies alone would prove that point. Inflated numbers only shift the focus away from the horror and allow the Organization to debate the validity of clinical data.

For that reason, I would caution anyone against using the 250,000 figure or even Marvin's 50,000 figure. Bring the attention to individual case studies and let the disaster of this dogma be revealed in emotional, not mathematical terms. That is where we win - with hearts, not charts.

Read through all of this and figured I'd weigh in. I have no dog in this fight and no enemies on this board, though I might make a few with this post. :/

The "250,000 deaths directly attributable to the blood doctrine" figure cannot possibly be correct. The statistical sample is too small and the methodology to find a reliable delta between normal and blood-refusing death rates too fuzzy. Worldwide, I would submit that the introduction of variables inherent between First and Third World medicine makes the whole proposition a non-starter until these variables can be isolated and applied to each delta.

Full disclosure: I am not a biostatistician, but I do work in insurance with morbidity and mortality tables and have done college statistics.

As others have stated, even from a 35,000 foot view, the 250,000 claim looks, feels and tastes wrong. Stating such without ironclad, peer-reviewed anaylsis to back it up is irresponsible and counterproductive. And inflating death claims, aside from being sensationalistic, is needless. Recall the Talmud: "Whoever destroys a soul, it is considered as if he destroyed an entire world."

One needless death is terrible enough to condemn the entire organization and its false doctrine. It does not need embellishment to be execrable.

I also agree that the suicide rate among Witnesses versus the general population is something worth investigating. In relative terms, suicides may well be a bigger issue than the blood doctrine. In moral terms (again, pointing to the Talmud above) both issues are absolutely damning to the Governing Body and WTBTS.

Again, I'm not looking to make friends or enemies on the board, but I do believe we owe the world community intellectual honesty and responsible witness to the shameful actions of the Society. Nothing can be gained from stretching the truth about the truth.

1st Time in 3 Years JW's call at our Door - Two 30 yr. long Time JW's

i thought i was back on the jw radar after my jw daughter had a local elder call on me back in 2011 - but apparently not.

he obviously didn't let his elders know i lived here, no record was kept for posterity and just called my daughter telling her that her " dad has differences with the organization " because he never called back on me as he promised to talk again.

as i'm just inactive for 10 years.. so these two older jw ladys come knocking yesterday - one lady about 57 and the other lady older about 71 yrs.old ( i asked how long they had been jw's and told me they both have been in 30 years.

I only wish I could be this together when they come to my door. They did last year, and I almost threw up. I managed to stammer out "I'm not interested" before closing the door.

Well, at least I have the brevity thing going for me. Which is nice.

"i'm perfect, you're doomed" by kyria abrahams, 2009, touchstone.. if you want a way to get people out of that horrible cult, easily, quickly and expeditiously, then here is how to do that.. i can say with a vote of confidence that anyone who reads this book will never and i mean never become a dub.

dubs who read it (assuming they have at least one or two brain cells left) will run from their religion like flies on shit when you pour bleach on it and blow it up with dynamite.. toss away crisis of conscience, apocalypse delayed, 30 years a watchtower slave and all those other very nice books and read this one.

i read those and all the other ones.

My younger daughter read this book on her own to try to figure out what my upbringing might have been like. I think the language was a bit much for her, but she had a much greater appreciation of the crazy I went through as a kid after reading it.

And yes, SFPW, women can write and stuff. Welcome to the 21st Century.

that text reminds me of one of a handful of problems peculiar to the ex-jw community.

second only to the wild beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-jw populace.

you know the one thing that indicates jehovah's blessing upon the worldwide association of kingdom proclaimers, is not only the continued success of the preaching work, but along with it the unity and love amongst the brothers and sisters.

Personally, I wasn't severely oppressed by anyone in the Kingdom Hall except my older brother. As I've shared earlier on these pages, he brought editorials I wrote in school (of a somewhat political slant) to the attention of the elders in my home congregation. It was promptly announced that I was no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and my older brother's ambition was rewarded - he went to Bethel and is now an elder.

Until very recently, I have been shunned from this family. I now have a beautiful wife and two morally upstanding teenaged daughters who most of my JW family has never met. My family was divided against itself, but I am glad that my brother's sick ambition and cult influence has not contaminated my own household.

I am also glad that if one of my family members was in a serious accident, they would not hesitate to take a life-saving blood transfusion. I have donated over a gallon of my own blood to the American Red Cross. If Jehovah has a problem with me saving someone's life (and let's take this a step further - even at the cost of my own ticket to a paradise earth), then He can take it up with me later.

The Governing Body's doctrine has corkscrewed painfully to cover its own mistakes. If you have read any of these pages, you have seen enough actual truth to question. If you choose to be willfully ignorant or blind to the harmful doctrine the GB espouses, that's on you. The fact that millions have left this cult in their own way and have not presented a united front in no way invalidates the original reason for leaving. It simply means they fled this moral and intellectual famine to different countries.

I hope you find truth someday.

ok i am finally getting the big picture.

it was a huge explosion of emotion and a lot of my preivous topics were sketchy becuase i really couldn't get the big picture without all the pieces.. 1 months ago i told his girlfriend that there was some info getting around about her.

he came to my house in the middle of the night to force me to lie and say i miss heard it from him.
